As you may know, Homeopathy operates on the principle of treating “like with like,” meaning that a substance which causes symptoms in a healthy person can be used in a highly diluted form to treat those same symptoms in a person who is unwell. Homeopathic remedies are chosen based on your unique symptom picture, considering not only the physical symptoms but also your emotional and mental state. This is a holistic approach that aims to find a remedy which matches, as closely as possible, your overall symptom picture, rather than just addressing isolated symptoms.

In cases of seasonal allergies, while we work on holistically addressing the underlying immune response that is causing the symptoms, an acute homeopathic remedy can really help to improve the quality of life, and reduce dependence on allopathic medications. Here are some common homeopathic remedies that are often used for seasonal allergies: perhaps one or more of them resonates with you?

Seasonal allergies can create many uncomfortable symptoms, but thankfully, homeopathy can help.

  1. Allium cepa: Made from red onion, this remedy has symptoms of profuse watering from the eyes, and profuse watery discharge from the nose.
  2. Euphrasia: Also known as eyebright, it’s used for allergies with intense itching in the eyes.
  3. Arsenicum album: This remedy may be used for allergies with burning nasal discharge, and a sensation of dryness and irritation (fits even better where there is anxiety about one’s health).
  4. Natrum muriaticum: Sometimes used for allergies with sneezing, nasal congestion, and clear or white discharge from the nose, especially if triggered by emotional stress.
  5. Sabadilla: Used for allergies with attacks or prolonged bouts of sneezing, as well as itching in the nose, and a runny nose; symptoms are worse from exposure to pollen.
  6. Wyethia helenioides: Used for allergies with itching at the back of the palate or throat, causing a desire to scratch or clear the throat.

Remember that individual responses to homeopathic remedies can vary, and especially if you have severe seasonal allergies or are experiencing an allergic reaction it’s highly recommended to consult with a qualified homeopathic practitioner for proper treatment.
