Chaga tea, derived from the Chaga mushroom (Inonotus obliquus), has been cherished for centuries in traditional medicine practices, particularly in Siberia, Russia, and other parts of Asia. Renowned for its earthy flavor and potential health benefits, this ancient brew has recently gained popularity worldwide.

I like to buy the dried chunks of Chaga, which can be steeped repeatedly. I keep a tea pot of it for a few days, adding boiling water until the tea eventually loses its brown colour, at which point, I start again. I find a few pieces can last me about 5 or more days, and I mix it with coffee in a half and half mixture which serves also to reduce my overall caffeine intake. It has a light but earthy, and pleasant flavour that compliments coffee very well. You could also do the same with a black tea. If you try it mixed with something else, leave me a comment as to what your preferred recipe is!
